The Depression Style

The Great Depression was during the 1930's, and just as in the 1910's history affected fashion. The Great Depression brought on a depressing style. Women wore very dark colors and the hemlines were lowered.

 

The Elegant Style

After the Great Depression, women changed their style. They started wearing clothing with a slimmer fit that emphasized their curves. One of the most popular items in this style was the backless evening gown.

 

Hi again!! This is so funny that these two styles are exact opposites. It is so strange how fashion can take such sharp turns. Let's go to the 1940's.
